Organization and Current Membership
The composition of the St. Joseph River Basin Commission is specified in both the Indiana Code, IC-14-30-3-3, and the by-laws of the St. Joseph River Basin Commission. Membership in the Basin Commission is extended to DeKalb, Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, St. Joseph and Steuben counties that drain into the St. Joseph River. Representation from each participating county includes:
The executive of each second-class city or the executive's designee;
The executive of the municipality with the largest population or its designee, if the county does not have a second-class city;
A member of the county executive branch of government;
The county health officer or the health officer's designee;
An individual appointed by the governor who is a member of the board of supervisors of a soil and water conservation district;
The
director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources or the director's designee.
